Curated Conversations to a Convening Celebration

In 2003, The Journal of Media Literacy, then Telemedium, released Visions/Revisions: Moving Forward with Media Education, a special issue that surveyed the international media literacy field. Inspired by this issue, the International Council for Media Literacy (IC4ML) will host a series of convenings across the world to take stock of where we are and advance the work of media education, including:

  • Models (theories, frameworks, etc)
  • Classrooms (pedagogy and practice)
  • Communities (cultures, technologies, practices)

As these meetings unfold over the course of two years, we will produce a series of essays, art, and media that grows from one gathering to the next, culminating in a new, open access reinterpretation of Visions/Revisions. The project will conclude with a celebration at the IMLRS in June 2028 that allows us to look back on 75 years as an ongoing organization and look forward to the future we build together.
