Workshop 2
Workshop on the International “Grandparents” of Media Literacy
3 hours, 2-5pm, Thursday, June 27, 2024
Facilitators: Anya Schiffrin, Brian Gregory, and Michael RobbGrieco
Hosted by the Media Education Lab
In this program, we recognize and honor the untold stories and narratives of people who have contributed to build the media literacy knowledge and practice community. We consider these people to be our intellectual “grandparents.” Through sharing their stories, we aim to reveal the complexity and nuance of the early days of this global, interdisciplinary field. This program will elucidate new research questions that help people interrogate the past, present, and future of media literacy education.
