We consider these people to be our intellectual “grandparents.” Through sharing their stories\, we aim to reveal the complexity and nuance of the early days of this global\, interdisciplinary field. This program will elucidate new research questions that help people interrogate the past\, present\, and future of media literacy education.

DESCRIPTION:Antonio López will lead our discussion and María Luisa Zorrilla will be a feature responder on the topic of “Educating for the Ecomedia Commons: How the Media’s Eco/mindprint Connects the Public and Environmental Commons” \nIn honor of Earth Day\, we will explore how concerns of the public commons overlap with climate challenges. The commons—“all that we share”—exist physically as our shared planetary ecosystems (atmosphere\, oceans\, hydrologic cycles\, etc.) and also as media commons that enable us to stay informed and take action about the climate.
