He is also an Honorary Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. Brett has an undergraduate and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. He has worked on climate change and sustainability-related projects in South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom, Kenya, Lesotho, Botswana, Chile, India and Peru, in both academia and the private sector for the last 15 years. He has worked on numerous consulting projects for government, industry and NGOs that relate to greenhouse gas mitigation and its implications in the South African context. Brett is a C2 National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher. He has been appointed as a Lead Author on the IPCC Assessment Report 6 (AR6), is registered on the UNFCCC’s Roster of Experts, a roster of individuals who are nominated by their Governments to contribute to a number of UNFCCC processes.
