Founder and Executive DirectorProject Look Sharp at Ithaca CollegeCyndy is founder and executive director of Project Look Sharp at Ithaca College, where she is also Dana Professor of Psychology, teaching courses in child and adolescent development, media literacy, and media effects, and coordinating the college’s interdisciplinary media literacy minor. She was a founding board member of the National Association for Media Literacy Education and coauthored the association’s Core Principles of Media Literacy Education. Cyndy’s publications on media literacy education include Teaching Students to Decode the World: Media Literacy Across the Curriculum (co-authored with Chris Sperry, ASCD, 2022) and The Teacher’s Guide to Media Literacy: Critical Thinking in a Multimedia World (co-authored with Faith Rogow, Corwin, 2012). She has also co-authored the curriculum kit, Critical Thinking and Health: Nutrition and TV Commercials, which is available on the Project Look Sharp website. She has a master’s degree in communications and a PhD in developmental psychology, both from Cornell University.
