Whitney Hardin received her PhD from Wayne State University in 2014. Her scholarly interests are often centered on exploring rhetoric's role in shaping our ideas about civic life, such as the use of institutional rhetoric to enforce notions of good citizenship; the rhetorical practices of social movements and acts of protest; and the interplay of violence and rhetoric, specifically through state-sanctioned acts of coercion or threat directed at citizens.
