- The Disinformation Diaries: Four New Stops in a Global Conversation
- The Disinformation Diaries: A Global Journey Through the Crisis of Information
The Disinformation Diaries continues its journey around the world, exploring one essential question: how can we protect the integrity of information in an increasingly fragmented and complex media environment? Co-produced by DCN Global and journalist, author, and educator Alexandre Le Voci Sayad, the 30-episode web series brings together voices from different countries and professional backgrounds to examine disinformation not simply as a problem of “fake news,” but as a challenge involving journalism, trust, education, technology, culture, democracy, and access to reliable information.
Episode 5 — Can Libraries Be Guardians of Information Integrity?
The episode (a conversation with Lisa Hinchliffe, Coordinator for Research Professional Development in the University Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.) asks us to reconsider libraries as part of the civic infrastructure that can help people navigate an overwhelming information environment. In an age of algorithms, social media, and information overload, what new role can these trusted public spaces play in strengthening critical thinking, access to knowledge, and information integrity?
Episode 6 — How Can Journalism Rebuild Trust in an Age of Disinformation?
If journalism is part of the solution to disinformation, it must also confront one of its deepest contemporary challenges: the decline of public trust. Episode 6 explores how journalism can rebuild its relationship with audiences at a moment when traditional news organizations compete not only with one another, but with influencers, platforms, creators, algorithms, and countless alternative sources of information. The conversation is with Loretta Cooper, head of The Economist Foundation.
Episode 7 — What Role Should Journalism Play When Media Boundaries Blur?
Who is a journalist today? Who produces news—and who decides what deserves our attention? Nikos Panagiotou, Professor of Journalism and Mass Media Communication and President of DCN Global discusses a media ecosystem in which the boundaries between producers and consumers have become increasingly difficult to define.
Episode 8 — How Can Mass Media Address Local Issues With Accountability?
It brings another dimension into the discussion: the responsibility of media towards the communities they serve. In a globalized information ecosystem, local realities can easily disappear behind national narratives, international agendas, and the logic of platforms. The episode is a conversation with Emma Lacey-Bordeaux, Senior Director for Standards and Practices at CNN.
